T5006 - C. PERFRINGENS ENTEROTOXIN TEST
A rapid ELISA for the detection of Clostridium perfringens enterotoxin in fecal specimens. For Investigational Use Only.
After treatment with antibiotics, many patients develop gastrointestinal problems ranging from mild diarrhea to severe pseudomembranous colitis. Many cases of the milder forms of gastrointestinal illness and most cases of pseudomembranous colitis are caused by Clostridium difficile, an opportunistic anaerobic bacterium that grows in the intestine once the normal flora has been altered by the antibiotic. However, new evidence points to the role of enterotoxigenic C. perfringens in antibiotic-associated diarrhea. The C. PERFRINGENS ENTEROTOXIN TEST is in an ELISA format and is an alternative to tissue culture assay for detecting C. perfringens enterotoxin in fecal specimens.
Features
- Specifically detects the enterotoxin
- Easy to perform
